Membership |
Whilst Avon Organic Group is a Local Group for members of Garden Organic we offer membership to all with a shared interest in organic growing.
We provide a regular opportunity for growers and would-be growers to get together socially to increase our knowledge both from invited speakers and from sharing ideas and experience within the group.
The group also aims to demonstrate in a local practical way the ideas behind organic growing and so promoting the benefits of growing organically.
We welcome non-members at our regular monthly programme of talks and events.
Members enjoy priority booking for tickets to our talks and events (via TicketSource), free admission to our programmed meetings when we hold talks and a range of other benefits, including discounts on seeds and some other growing supplies ordered throughout the year of membership.
You can Apply to Join Online and request an Application Form.

Local Food Growing ActivitiesSome of our Members are involved in a number of established local food growing activities:
- Horfield Community Orchard: Originally set up by Avon Organic Group in 1998, the orchard is now managed as an independent community food project. Overgrown plots on the edge of an allotment association site were cleared and planted with over 100 different fruiting trees, bushes and vines and shows how local grown fruit can be eaten and enjoyed all year round. A Home Orchard Plot (HOP) is planned for the future to show inspiring ways to grow and care for fruit in the small spaces available to urban fruit growers. Members share tasks and harvests. www.community-orchard.org.uk - St George Community Garden: Now fully independent of the group, since 2012 a small group of local volunteers have been involved in a growing project in the park aiming to encourage St George residents and any visitors to the park to get involved in growing their own, taking part in sowing, planting and harvesting. www.facebook.com/St-George-Park-Community-Garden - Incredible Edibles Bristol: Inspired by the Incredible Edible Todmorden story and similar urban food growing initiatives, people in Bristol are coming together to grow fresh and healthy food for all in green spaces all over the city. ediblebristol.org.uk |
